Possible Recipe for (Self-Made) Energy Bars

Ingredients

Required:
Dates (in the Netherlands, one packet is good for two bars. You can use the packet as a mould for the bars)
At least one of the options under optional 1

Optional 1:
Cereal (I use cereal only, because it often contains nuts and dried fruit)
All kind of nuts
Dried fruit
Chocolate
Raisins

Optional 2:
Cacoa powder
Vanilla sugar
Brown sugar

Instructions
1. Cut all the dates up and remove the seed
2. Add whatever ingredients you choose
3. Start kneading it all together
4. Put it in a mould and knead it in the right shape
5. Put a lit or tin foil around it
6. Put it in the fridge overnight to let it gel into a nice firm bar

Tip
If you’ve got something chocolaty in it, don’t knead it too much. This way you get in less of the nuts and other stuff, and all the dates. The dates in this shape takes really well with the chocolate.

If you want your bar nice and crispy, knead it all through till all the ingredients are taken in and you get a nice big lump. These bars are very rich and remain crispy longer.

The bars are very rich. Eating one bar will take some doing.

The older the bars get, the dryer and richer they will get.

Enjoy!
