Oranges: Most of the time inside the bowl, sometimes outside. |
About their whereabouts. The story of the Nassau dynasty started in the 12th century in Germany. The Orange came into play when RenĂ© of Chalon, William the Silent’s cousin, died and left the title to his cousin. This happened in the 16th century. After having inherited the title William of Nassau became William, Prince of Orange. He soon was sent to what is now Belgium for a more appropriate education. Then, and now I’m guessing, it was the 18th century when a cousin of William III grabbed the title ‘Prince of Orange’ and added it to his own name ‘Nassau’. That’s how Orange-Nassau came into existence somewhere in Friesland. Ever since the Oranges where mainly located in the Netherlands (or what was called the Netherlands). Only twice since have the Oranges fled to greener pastures; once from 1795 to 1813 when they fled from the Patriots and the second time in the Second World War from the Nazi’s.
So far for their whereabouts.
I could work out a whole Orange timeline. I’m not going to. It’s helluva work; I don’t have time for that now. Maybe I’ll find one on the Internet.
